¶ 1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 Mark Edward Lewis is Kwoh-ting Li Professor in Chinese Culture in the Department of History and Professor by Courtesy in the Department of Religious Studies at Stanford University. From 1986-2002 he was Lecturer and Reader in Early Chinese History at Cambridge University. He did his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in history at the University of Chicago, and was a junior fellow in the Harvard University Society of Fellows. He is the author of: Sanctioned Violence in Early China; Writing and Authority in Early China; The Construction of Space in Early China; The Flood Myths of Early China; The Early Chinese Empires: Qin and Han; China Between Empires: The Northern and Southern Dynasties; China’s Cosmopolitan Empire: The Tang Dynasty.
